Linear A
Linear A is a Bronze Age writing system used mainly on Crete, approximately 1800–1450 BCE, on clay tablets, sealings, pottery and votive objects. The artefacts, corpus and administrative function of many tablets are attested. Several signs are conventionally transcribed using values related to Linear B, and some logograms, numerals and fractions can be identified; however, projecting Linear B sound values does not establish Linear A pronunciation or produce a translation. The underlying language, vocabulary and most syntax remain unidentified.
