Linear A

This dossier separates attested artefacts and corpus structure from proposed readings. The current public package establishes the research scope, source register and next review gate; it does not claim that Linear A has been deciphered.

Linear A belongs to Bronze Age Crete and appears in administrative, economic and ritual contexts. Its relationship with later Linear B is materially important, but similarity of signs alone cannot identify the language encoded by Linear A.

The evidence layer indexes objects, archaeological context, sign sequences, palaeographic variants and publication history. Claims are graded by traceability and kept separate from phonetic or linguistic hypotheses.

The code-table architecture distinguishes an attested sign form, its internal identifier, palaeographic class, proposed value, attestations and review status. No sign value is presented as established unless its supporting record is publishable.

Images and object records are published only when rights, attribution and provenance have been reviewed. Each asset remains linked to its source and checksum so later analysis can be reconstructed.

Conventional sign values derived through comparison with Linear B are analytical tools, not translations. Competing linguistic proposals remain hypotheses until they explain the corpus consistently and survive independent review.

The research lead defines scope and publication gates. Contributors may support data preparation, epigraphy, archaeology, linguistics or reproducibility review, with roles and changes recorded.

Researchers, institutions and volunteers may contribute sources, corrections, technical capacity or independent criticism. Participation does not grant authority to alter conclusions without evidence.

Any future support is voluntary and does not constitute an investment, purchase or promise of return. Funding channels remain closed until the recipient, budget, reporting and legal conditions are verified.

Material changes, source additions and review outcomes will be recorded chronologically. Contributors may be acknowledged publicly or anonymously according to their documented preference.
